A simple toggle switch, labeled 'Turn video off/on', will appear above the progress bar, allowing viewers to switch between portrait and landscape modes effortlessly. And with HLS technology, video quality will automatically adjust based on the user's internet speed, ensuring a smooth viewing experience. Downloading video episodes for offline viewing will also be a breeze.
This update comes at a pivotal moment for the podcasting industry. YouTube recently revealed that it has 1 billion monthly podcast viewers, while Netflix has partnered with Spotify to bring 16 video shows to its platform. As video podcasts gain popularity, Apple's decision to expand video support in Podcasts is a defining milestone. The upgraded video experience will be available on iPhone, iPad, and Vision Pro with iOS 26.4, iPadOS 26.4, and visionOS 26.4, respectively. Apple has also confirmed that the web version will roll out this spring, making it accessible across a wide range of devices. Apple iOS 26.4 is currently available in beta, and a stable release is expected in the coming weeks.
