A remarkable new theme park featuring record-breaking attractions has just opened its gates to the public!
This incredible £740 million venture, known as Six Flags, boasts the world’s fastest, tallest, and longest roller coaster. Officially welcoming its first guests on New Year’s Eve, this park is set to redefine amusement in the region.
Located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Six Flags Qiddiya City has finally commenced operations after four years of diligent construction efforts.
Among its impressive 28 rides is the flagship attraction: Falcon’s Flight. This roller coaster holds multiple world records, standing at an astonishing 639 feet tall and reaching thrilling speeds of 155 mph, making it a must-try for adrenaline enthusiasts.
For those seeking even more excitement, the park offers the Sirocco Tower, which claims the title of the tallest free-standing shot ride in the world, reaching a height of 475 feet. Additionally, visitors can experience the Iron Rattler, the world’s tallest tilt coaster at 208 feet, and Spitfire, recognized as the tallest inverted triple-launch roller coaster globally.
Riders can also enjoy the Sea Stallion, which is notable for being the tallest and fastest rider-controlled coaster, soaring to 39 feet and achieving speeds of up to 44 mph. And let’s not forget the impressive 173-foot Gyrospin, which invites thrill-seekers to take on the tallest pendulum ride worldwide.
These exhilarating attractions are spread across six uniquely themed zones: the coral-inspired Discovery Springs, the steampunk-style Steam Town, the enchanting firefly-lit Twilight Gardens, the treasure-filled Valley of Fortune, the festive Grand Exposition, and the action-packed City of Thrills.
In addition to the thrilling rides, the park features 29 dining options that promise a delightful culinary experience, celebrating both local Saudi flavors and international cuisines. There are also 25 themed shops for visitors to explore.
This exciting theme park marks a significant milestone as the first Six Flags location to open outside of North America and is also the largest in Saudi Arabia. Adult day tickets offering unlimited access start at around £64, providing an attractive adventure for thrill-seekers.
Construction of this entertainment paradise began in December 2021, soon after the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) announced the £742 million investment for the project.
Six Flags is the inaugural operational segment of Qiddiya City, an expansive desert entertainment complex situated in the scenic Tuwaiq Mountains, just on the outskirts of Riyadh. Future plans for this ambitious city include a Formula 1 racetrack, a World Cup stadium, and Aquarabia, a water park anticipated to open its doors in March.
With such breathtaking attractions and extensive offerings, who wouldn’t want to be among the first to experience this groundbreaking amusement park? But what do you think about the rapid growth of entertainment complexes in places like Saudi Arabia? Does it reflect a positive shift towards more diverse recreational options, or does it raise concerns about over-commercialization? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
